Description

We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments for our large farming organisations and small veterinary clinic.

Bookkeeper job duties include working closely with Ian Scott, the business & farm owner to reconcile transactions, create and analyse financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments as well complete PAYE for employees. Our ideal candidate holds an accounting degree/diploma and is familiar with accounting software packages, like MYOB.

Ultimately, the Bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of our companies.

Travel to Tirau is required. Number of hours is estimated at 15 per week, contract basis, flexible hours between 9am - 5pm weekdays.

Responsibilities
*Generate customer invoices for our large animal veterinary clinic
*Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
*Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger and general ledger
*Balance books and transactions across multiple companies
*Bring the books to the trial balance stage
*Perform checks of the posting process
*Complete tax forms (GST cash & invoice basis, withholding tax, income tax, PAYE)
*Enter data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements
*Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner
*Enter data records for NAIT Herd Animal Records
*Write up letters, newsletters and other communication documents as required

Requirements
*Proven bookkeeping experience preferably in agricultural/farming/veterinary industries
*Solid understanding of advanced bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
*Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
*Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers and common sense
*Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
*Proficiency in English and in MS Office & MYOB
*Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
*High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
*BS degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
