This is a true working Manager’s job. We are a Boating Club based in Te Atatu South and require a Bar and Promotions Manager to take ownership of the successful bar and associated social activities with great potential.
Working with the Club Manager and House Committee, there is plenty of support and there are several part time bar staff to assist.
Duties are all encompassing, from serving behind the bar, staff roster, being part of the staff recruitment process, mentoring and training staff, ordering, receiving goods, inventory control, streamlining stock holding and margin control. Ensuring full compliance to liquor licensing requirements and advising any changes that need to be made.
Keeping the bar area organised and stock displays current. Working with suppliers on promotions and driving sales.
Marketing of functions and events, activities which may include, venue hire, raffles, music on the deck, quiz nights, bingo nights, card nights, comedy nights, dances, balls, St Patrick’s Day, Burns Night, and other social events, all to increase bar turnover and drive membership. The House Committee members and club members/volunteers are your foot soldiers.
You need to be outgoing and enthusiastic, like social activities and want to become an integral part of the club, taking ownership of your area.
We see some flexibility in hours required, there may be some nights and weekend as part of events, or unavoidable gaps in the staff roster but predominantly this is Monday to Friday and a 40 hour week. We are thinking anywhere from 10am or 12 to 6.30 or 8.30pm but will negotiate this with the candidates.
Proof of social media skills and club experience would be an advantage.
A Managers Certificate is essential (or the ability to get one immediately).
