This is a great opportunity for a male or female teacher to come and work in a family run centre in Papamoa where each of the team members and the whanau are seen and treated as individuals. Where the team is considered the most important part of the centre and they are supported and nurtured so that they can do what they do best – teach! I am the owner and the manager and I’m there every day to help out and support where needed.

We are a solution-based centre who is constantly working on our team culture because that's how we keep it so great. We encourage and build peoples individual strengths to ensure that everyone is working within their passions and enjoying their day at work. We always love a fresh pair of eyes, love new ideas and giving teachers ownership to lead their own programmes.

Days working with children can be unpredictable. Some days are fantastic and some are challenging. The difference in how you feel at the end of the day is in being part of a supportive team that has each others back, where you can trust that there’s someone walking along side you to lean on if you need it. We work hard and expectations are high but we have a laugh while we’re doing it. When we go on PLD, we’re the loud ones cackling in the corner!!!!

Relationships are key and we are very proud of the relationships that we have with our whanau. We go the extra mile and then some but what we get back in return is definitely worth the effort. We individually plan for each child and you would be expected to jump in and complete the paperwork for your ‘key’ children. We have a really great system though and enthusiastic team mates to support you through it while you learn how we do things.

I could keep on talking about what a great place The Blue Cottage is to teach at, about our sustainability, our stress free service, our bearded dragon 'Colin' and a million other things but non of my words compare with the feel you get when you walk in and that's not something you can fake!

The job role is as you would expect for a registered teacher. We are licensed for 80 children and have about 35 in our preschool. The website is full of information about us so check that out for more details.

This role is for male or female teachers who MUST be already registered with the New Zealand Teaching Council. It is a full time position but we would also consider 4 days a week.
