Student engagement and achievement is of paramount importance to the success of our organisation. We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Tutor who will provide teaching and learning experiences in which our students will be highly engaged.

This position is for the delivery of level 3 agriculture qualifications to people serving custodial sentences at Rimutaka Prison. The successful applicant must be able to facilitate engaging teaching and learning to a group of Agriculture students who vary in age, gender, cultural backgrounds and learning abilities. It is critical that the successful applicant is able to display ongoing empathy for learners.

Our learners complete their study equipped with the skills and knowledge to progress onto higher levels of education or to enter the workforce upon release.

Successful applicants will have:

Previous experience in a variety of Agriculture environments, including Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure.
Hold Level 4 Agriculture or equivalent qualifications.
Previous teaching experience in the tertiary sector, desirable but not essential.
Gained the New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education or other adult teaching qualifications; or a commitment to gaining appropriate qualifications (with support from Land Based Training).
A high level ability to engage and excite learners, by making learning fun and interactive; your learners will want to come back for more.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
