BOSTOCK New Zealand is best known as one of New Zealand’s leading growers and the largest organic apple producer with a proud history of sustainable growing practices. We have been exporting premium produce for more than 30 years – growing and marketing high quality organic apples, squash, onions and grain as well as exporting conventional apples on behalf of independent orchardists. Our very clever, creative and innovative engineer is leaving us with our blessing to become a Rocket Scientist (true story). We’re really sad he’s going, but we need to try to replace him with someone equally clever! This isn’t a standard job ad, as this isn’t a standard engineering job – the successful person will play a pivotal role in the ongoing success to our business.

The position reports to our Contracting Manager and is based at our Kirkwood Road site in Hastings.

The role is varied, challenging and potentially a lot of fun to the right person. The successful candidate will get to work in one of the best equipped workshops in the region. We are looking for someone who:
• Finds the impossible, possible
• Has mad idea’s/solutions/inventions that might just work to make us even more competitive, innovative and efficient
• Has a degree or extensive experience in engineering and is hands on (and preferably still has all their own fingers, refer to Health and Safety below)
• Has amazing mechanical aptitude (as in finding the impossible, possible)
• Is really good at fixing things
• Appreciates that Health and Safety must come first
• Has the ability to get on with their co-workers, but is happy to work on their own and drive new projects to completion
• Enjoys a challenge, a problem, a speed hump, a brain dump
• Prides themselves on being an innovator, a new adaptor, a leader
