Registered Nurse - Age Care Dementia

• We require a well organised professional RN with the ability and experience to work in a senior position in an Aged Care Dementia Facility.

The successful applicant will be responsible for admission of residents and on-going quality care outcomes for all residents in the Dementia facility, in line with their individually assessed requirements. You will oversee the carer practices and monitor the service delivery ensuring we meet the highest standards. A proven ability to coach, guide and support your team, delegate effectively and promote excellent working relationships.

You will be responsible for ensuring Health and Disability Service standards and Kintala Lodge policies and procedures are adhered to, following best practice guidelines.

You will have additional support from the Facility Manager. You will also be required to be on an “On-Call” after hours roster for Resthome emergencies. You will require reliable personal transport. You will need to have InterRai familiarity and competence or be prepared to train for it.

Some of the functions and responsibilities of the registered nurse include:

1. Working with the Facility General Manager, staff and/or relatives to prepare a written comprehensive care plan for each resident that addresses personal care needs, health care needs and rehabilitation and reflecting residents’ assessed physical, psychological, spiritual; and cultural abilities, deficits and needs.

2. Overseeing and providing the safe delivery of all Resident medications. Advising on care and administration of medication and ensuring that staff has an adequate understanding of the medications administered: And ensuring staff competency levels in managing both Residents and their Medication.

3. Delivering and ensuring safe, efficient and therapeutically effective nursing care by good prioritisation of personal and collective workloads. The RN is expected to be at times a hands-on support to carers for showering, sponging, assisting residents: Respecting the rights, autonomy, privacy and dignity of residents.
