Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island. We believe older people should remain connected to their community and live stimulating and fulfilling lives. All our homes embrace an elder-directed model of care called the Eden Alternative.
About the Role
As a Recreation Officer, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating individual resident's recreation plan and recreation programme for Enliven residential. This involves running daily activities with staff and volunteers, planning the social calendar for the home and supporting our residents to pursue their interests.
You will also encourage residents maintain their independence, learn new skills and maintain connections with their community as part of the Eden Alternative.
The role is 32 hours per fortnight:
· Monday 1000 – 1400, Thursday and Friday 1300 – 1700
· Monday 1000 – 1400, Tuesday and Friday 1300, 1700, Saturday and Sunday 1330 – 1530 (with one hour lunch break on these 2 days)
About You
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.
A commitment to Enliven's Eden philosophy of care is a key component of this role.
In addition, you will have:
Careerforce Level 2 Health Diversional Therapy Qualification or working towards one
Excellent communication skills
Good written and documentation skills
Basic computer skills
