For over 30 years, Odyssey House Christchurch has had a mission to improve the wellbeing of individuals, family and community affected by addiction, mental health and related issues.

65 Alive is unique service, offered through Odyssey House, providing individual and group work for older people. With a specialist understanding of substance related concerns, services include consultation and liaison for local providers to the older person.

We are looking for a qualified nurse with a knowledge base and interest in addiction and mental health.

As a dedicated older person's AOD specialist nurse, you will:

Become a point of contact regarding older people with AOD issues
Consult liaison role with other services
Coordinate access to AOD assessment and interventions/support
Be innovative in scoping and developing recommendations regarding meeting this demand in realistic ways
Develop expertise in this specialty area including managing cognitive, physical, mental health and social aspects of care, with potential for higher vocational or academic training related to this area of work.

To be successful in this role, you will:

Be a Registered Nurse with training in AOD and preferably either Older Person Health and/or general adult mental health.
Facilitation and group work skills
Strong organisational and administration ability (accuracy, flexibility and efficiency are important).
See opportunities to make a difference and respond to changing and growing needs.
Quickly form positive relationships with older people and family members.
Be able to work across organisations, teams and disciplines.

This is a service we are looking to develop. The successful candidate will be able to hold a case load and work with the Operations Manager in scoping existing and new areas.
