A new position has become available for a tractor driver/stock person on our 390 ha dairy farm 20 mins from Ashburton and 8 mins from hinds.
The roster is 5-2 (Monday- Friday) with start and finish times flexible around the season to suit the applicant.
We are a system 5 dairy farm that has a wintering barn that is utilised from may- August.
The main role would be-
-feeding out throughout the year.
-pre and post mowing grass paddocks.
-machinery maintenance, including farm bikes and farm trucks.
-General farm maintenance including but not limited to, filling pivot ruts, welding, workshop duties, fence repairs and general farm improvements.
Irrigation via 5 pivots, (maintenance, start, stopping and system checks)
-Kline irrigation over summer (approx 1.5 hours once daily.
-Help picking up calves.
-Shifting break fences over winter and early spring.
-Herd milking cows to the dairy shed when other staff are on annual leave.
-Help with any stock work, calf weighing, heifer tagging, pour on drench’s etc.
For this role there is no accommodation available so an hourly fee will be paid for any travel time to and from work.
The salary is highly competitive and will be based around experience.
