Due to a injury, a great opportunity has came available on our high country farm in central otago, for a young shepherd. We are a progressive hill country property running 9000 SU of sheep and cattle at Millers Flat, Central Otago.
In recent years the property has been undergoing rapid development from tussock to high producing pasture, using up to date techniques, and achieving high animal performance. You would be working alongside the stock manager and the owner. Will have good opportunities to experience a wide variety of skills required to efficiently manage a farming enterprise. This would include issues of feed production and allocation/budget, improving stock performance, land development, seasonal planning as well as ongoing farm maintenance.
Requirements:
* Have good communication skills
* Well controlled working dogs
* The successful applicant will need to have sound livestock knowledge and good stock handling skills
* Hold a current NZ drivers licence
* Work independently when required
* Be self-motivated, punctual and show initiative
* Reliable and honest
