Abel Tasman Honey and Pollination Ltd is a Riwaka based collaboration between Durville Island Honey, Kahurangi Honey and Thomas Bros Ltd, a family-owned orchard growing kiwifruit, apples and cherries.
We currently run 800 - 1000 hives and have over 20yrs experience in the beekeeping industry and are always looking to the future for sustainable beekeeping practices and improvement.
We are currently seeking an assistant or experienced beekeeper to join our small team for the coming pollination and honey season.
The role will require working alongside our head beekeeper in a variety of roles:
Hive manipulation and management
Disease and mite recognition and control
Queen rearing
Re-queening
Moving hives in and out of orchards and honey sites
Honey production
Building hives and maintenance
We are seeking a team player with a can-do attitude. You will need to be healthy, physically fit and strong as heavy lifting will be involved.
