The Employer:
We are an established company based in Penrose and operating throughout the Auckland area. We service and maintain pumpsets (diesel and electrical driven) used for varied applications (for example, fire and other types of pumps).
We seek an experienced diesel mechanic who can work autonomously on diesel engines and water pumps; also, some electrical knowledge would be handy.
The Ideal Type of Person:
As a field service technician, you will have a varied workload which is generally not too physically demanding. You need to be someone who enjoys using your initiative and is able to work on your own, but knows when to ask for technical support.
As well as solid mechanical skills, the ideal person will have/be:
• 5+ years work experience in NZ
• Good diesel mechanical knowledge
• Capable of performing general mechanical duties and repairs
• Good fault-finding diagnostic skills
• Self-organised
• Communicate well with customers
• Able to keep accurate records for each job
• Enthusiasm to learn new design and ideas

This job would suit an experienced mechanically-minded tradesman who enjoys working on own, and is OK to do a variety of jobs (e.g. you may have worked as a marine engineer or as an electrical or mechanical fitter). Or you may be a third or fourth year mechanic apprentice seeking a career opportunity, or a seasoned mechanic who wants less physically strenuous work? It’s likely that you enjoy tinkering with cars or motorbikes in your spare time.
