We have a position available now for an experienced GIS Analyst/Forester to join our Forest Management Team. You will have a desire to learn about forestry and apply skills to improve business. Your primary responsibilities are to provide technical and analytical assistance to the forest management team.

You will need:
• Sound knowledge and proven experience with ESRI ArcGIS software and mobile technologies.
• Experience in Geospatial Data management utilising software such as ATLAS Geomaster, ATLAS PSP and Trimble Pathfinder Office.
• Experience with remotely sensed data including Trimble GPS, satellite imagery, and conventional platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Our operations are based out of Invercargill with forests located throughout Southland. The successful applicant will be based in Invercargill and must have a genuine interest to live and work in the south.

It should particularly suit a person with keen outdoor recreational interests with excellent hunting, tramping, fishing, diving, skiing and a wide choice of sporting activities available.

Our company is a forest owner, manager, processor and exporter primarily involved in growing Hardwoods but includes softwood plantations. Whilst the position is primarily a GIS role, the appointee will likely be involved in all facets of our forest establishment work, with direct hands on management experience in the various operations.
The majority of the forests are FSC & PEFC certified and the work will include full involvement in annual compliance, monitoring, reporting.
There is an ongoing requirement to gather/analyse field data for refining growth & yield modeling, continuing R & D work and maintenance of a modern forest inventory system.

The successful applicant will preferably have a tertiary qualification in spatial sciences, forestry, geography, or proven performance in this field.
