Description

The Hynds Foundation aspires to create a landscape in Pokeno that is full of native fauna and flora with creative and inspirational sculptures by New Zealand artists. Through the foundation's partnership with MHS Schools and the Auckland University we are excited to offer artists an opportunity to showcase their work in an inspiring and peaceful setting for years to come. In due course, the Hynds Foundation looks forward to welcoming visitors to appreciate both the art and the natural environment.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and passionate caretaker (and partner) to help fulfill our ambitious vision.

Key responsibilities include:

Building paths and fences
Planting
Garden maintenance
Painting
Weed control
Pest control
Assisting with sculpture installation
Operating machinery

This position would be ideal for someone with significant experience in native tree and shrub management. To excel in the day-to-day operations of the role, the ideal candidate will have:

Excellent knowledge of native flora and fauna
Previous horticultural experience
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Basic construction skills e.g. the ability to construct small retaining walls, build pathways and operate machinery.
Excellent time management skills
A positive attitude towards Health and Safety

This role would ideally suit a couple because as part of a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate (and their partner) can take residence in the on-site, three-bedroom house with carport. The land area is approximately 120 acres and temporarily has stock grazing on it currently.
