Are you passionate about contributing to your community and improving wellbeing in the Eastern Bay? The new Waka Eastern Bay (Accessible Transport Charitable Trust) is looking for a contractor to take on the role of Transport Coordinator & Administrator. Our Mission is to support solutions ensuring equitable and accessible travel options suitable for Eastern Bay communities.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations relating to a volunteer driver scheme and a carpooling trial in Whakatāne and the Eastern Bay of Plenty. As Transport Coordinator, your role will include community engagement, service promotion, volunteer management, recruitment and training, vehicle maintenance, booking and scheduling transport as well as social media management, and fundraising. You will also play a role in setting up our administration systems. This is a part-time contractor role, with hours mostly on weekdays between 9 and 1 (flexibility possible).

You will have a passion for working with seniors and people with disabilities, and the ability to build relationships in both Māori and Pākehā communities as well as among other ethnicities. Experience and established relationships within the not-for-profit and social sector would be an advantage. You will have:

Great customer service and experience in coordination of volunteers and clients
Experience with supporting and communicating with older adults/people with a disability preferred
Familiarity with te reo Māori and tikanga Māori
Competency with social media, websites, PR and marketing
Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite
Methodical and thorough record keeping, including database management
Reliability, with a great work ethic
Current Driver’s Licence.
