At Heartland Feeds and Nutrition, we provide dairy farmers with a wide range of animal feeds and supplements as well as tailored nutritional advice designed to help them maximise the health and performance of their livestock.
We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Dairy Feed Sales Specialist who is outgoing, friendly and enjoys being part of a team. At Heartland Feeds we work closely together and value our team members highly. As a Dairy Feed Sales Specialist, you would actively seek out and engage prospective clients as well as helping to maintain warm and productive relationships with our current clientele. You would be required to stay on top of their varying nutritional needs and advise them about making changes to their feeds and supplement products as needed.
SALARY:
Starting salary for this position is from 50-65K
Includes full use of a Heartland vehicle suitable for farm visits and national travel.
Includes travel expenses and use of Heartland work phones, other tech equipment and uniform gear.
DUTIES:
Maintaining Heartland’s high level of client service and direct availability at all times.
Maintaining familiarity with Heartland’s wide range of products as well as developing the ability to explain their specific uses, benefits and components to clients.
Finding and engaging new clients throughout New Zealand, helping us continue to expand our national market, including travel as needed.
Maintaining relationships with current Heartland Feeds clients and suppliers through regular contact and seasonal check-ins, including travel as needed.
Managing the nutritional and sales needs of clients as prioritise working with our clients to help them reach their goals. This can apply to both their quality and financial needs, and a member of the Heartland Sales team will need to be able to advise a client about which minerals and commodities they might adjust and/or substitute for their livestock as needed.
Promoting Heartland’s services and products wherever possible and occasionally attending agricultural or promotional events as a Heartland team member (an example of this would be staffing the company’s site at the upcoming Kirwee Field Days).
Engaging in sales meetings and discussion with the rest of the team – these can include the occasional presentations, setting and meeting sales targets, customer feedback, seasonal demands and expectations, and outside influences such as competitor and market activities.
Working with other sales team members and our office staff to oversee production and delivery, as well as maintaining awareness of our inventory to ensure the correct orders arrive with clients in a timely fashion.
Working closely with our office staff; this may include some light administrative work such as periodically going over pricing changes, client credit accounts and billing information to ensure they are correct and up to date.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
All applicants must have at least two years of practical experience in dairy farming and/or agribusiness, preferably with some background in the supply of dairy feed.
You must have some experience with and understanding of dairy nutritional needs, dairy feeds and supplements and with the New Zealand Dairy Industry as a whole.
You must be outgoing and skilled with customer service and relations, as well as in the areas of communication and practical problem solving.
You must have a full driver’s license, a flexible schedule, and be willing and able to spend nights away from home with little notice.
Applicants should be either able to operate a forklift or willing to obtain a Forklift Operating Certificate through Heartland
You will require proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
A certification or degree in Dairy Science is preferred but not required – for serious candidates we are willing to assist with further training and qualifications.
