Breeze, an Indian Restaurant situated in the heart of Hamilton City, is dedicated to bringing a variety of quality and authentic Indian cuisine that reflects the diversity of food within one land. Our restaurant is seeking a passionate, skilled chef to create delicious meals for our patrons.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and a qualified chef to assist in running our restaurant kitchen. This is a full-time opportunity for a passionate individual to join and be a key team member of our growing team. You will be responsible for planning our menu, ensuring that each dish is nutritious and cost-effective, and collaborating with a team of kitchen staff to deliver food that meets the highest quality standards. In your role, you will report directly to the Restaurant Manager.

In your role as Chef at Breeze Restaurant you will:

Prepare menu and create our dishes to the best of your ability.
Recommend and develop new ideas for the menu.
Prepare food for cooking.
Use cooking techniques to develop and cook food.
Present and serve dishes.
Oversee and ensure quality of all ingredients and dishes at each stage of preparation and presentation.
Order food supplies and assist in overseeing stock levels
Use a range of cooking machinery and utensils.
Be involved in training any new staff.
Demonstrate your cooking skills to assist in training.
Supervise staff performance and raise any areas which need improvement.
Manage and supervise cooks, kitchen assistants.
Be involved in staff meetings to help improve the business.
Have efficient time management and recording skills.
Assist in selection of any new staff if required by employer or manager.
Monitor and managing the effective use of all cooking equipments/appliances.
Identify record and address any kitchen hazards.
Oversee and ensure hygiene standards and regulations are enforced.
Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner.
Planning the menu, keeping in mind budget, and availability of seasonal ingredients.
Overseeing all kitchen operations.
Coordinating kitchen staff and assisting them as required.
Training staff to prepare and cook all the menu items.
Keeping up to date with industry trends.
Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary.

We are looking for a candidate with:

At least 3 years’ experience as a chef especially in traditional Indian Cuisine.
Culinary school degree/diploma.
Advanced knowledge of the culinary arts.
Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control.
Multitasking and time management ability.
Exemplary work ethic in a high-pressure environment.
Passion and pride for delighting people with food.
Passion to motivate and mentor others.
