Furneaux Lodge is the first stop on the renowned Queen Charlotte Track, situated in the Endeavour Inlet.
Part of the beauty of working in this historic destination is the isolation - no roads lead to Furneaux Lodge, there is only boat access with the closest loading wharf being in Picton - 2 hour boat ride to Furneaux. Therefore, this position suits an experience chef who will commit to living long-term (minimum 2 years) in this very remote location.
The perfect candidate must have the following requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Chef.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Head Chef.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in vegetarian, vegan and other dietary specific cuisines.
- Must have experience in fine dining
- Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to show you are extremely confident with all costing aspects of the kitchen.
- Understand the importance of flavour and attention to detail.
- You'll need to know what's happening in the New Zealand dining scene to remain at the top at all times.
- Passionate about food and service with a modern and relevant palate, highlighting current trends.
- Provide menu development, staff management and preparation.
- Experience in growing and cultivation using various systems such as hydro and aquaponics.
- Must have knowledge in organic growing methods and permaculture.
This position is not suitable for candidates with children as there is no schooling available in this location.
