The role of Head Chef
We are looking for a proven leader, a motivated, creative, passionate chef, with a sound knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine to:

lead the creation of new seasonal menus and Scarecrow Ready Meals;
be responsible for all aspects of food quality, ensuring consistency and maintaining excellent standards;
contribute to budgets and assure financial targets are met;
develop and publish the weekly roster to all kitchen staff;
manage our Food Control Plan (we use an online system that makes this very efficient and easy to use);
be responsible for the safety of staff, visitors & customers and compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act;
prepare great dishes, catering for a range of dietary requirements, including vegan dishes, from our seasonal menu;
be responsible for ordering and managing stock for all materials used in the kitchen;
be a highly motivated, passionate self-starter;
run a busy line, motivating team;
foster a collaborative, supportive and enviable environment Liaise and collaborate with the owners for development of new products, ideas and opportunities

Skills and Experience
We're looking for someone who loves hospitality, has proven experience working in a café and restaurant environment who strives to deliver the best experience and aspires to ever-improving standards.

The successful applicant will:

ideally have at least 10 years’ experience working in a café/restaurant environment
have a Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in the culinary arts
be able to work quickly and efficiently and always to a high standard
have a mature outlook with a “can do” approach
have the right to work in New Zealand
have an excellent command of written and spoken English
be willing to work weekends from time to time
