The Young Parents’ School is based at Auckland Point School and offers the opportunity for young parents in the Nelson region to continue their secondary education by providing a teaching and learning environment alongside childcare facilities.
We are seeking to employ a Kitchen Co-Ordinator. This role is a key position at the Young Parents’ School, providing lunches to our students as part of the Healthy School Lunches programme. This role is 4 hours each morning, making a total of 20 hours per week during term time only on a fixed term for the 2022 year.
You will be responsible for menu and food preparation, managing your budget and stock to provide healthy, nutritious, and appealing lunches for up to 20 students. The role will involve menu planning, supermarket shopping and the preparation of a range of fresh appealing food, within budget.
You will need to be sensitive to allergies and possess a healthy outlook on food. Nutritional knowledge and food handling qualifications or experience would be advantageous along with an understanding of the Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy School Lunch programme guidelines.
You will also be responsible for the administration required to run this programme, which will involve putting together food plans, reporting, financials, and budgeting.
