The Compassion Soup Kitchen is a social service organisation that has been working with the people of Wellington for more than a century. It was established by Suzanne Aubert in a time of great social need. The Soup Kitchen has responded to the changing needs of the community providing support to those on the margins. The kitchen is central to our operation and the Kitchen Manager has a key role in creating and leading a cohesive and functional team to effectively deliver services. The kitchen team works collaboratively as part of a wider team of sisters, volunteers and staff.
You will have:
Specific knowledge of large scale food service operation and food service management
A track record of management of kitchen operations including supervision and hiring of staff. -
A current Food Hygiene Certificate and other relevant qualifications.
An understanding of current Health and Safety requirements.
Budget management skills
Commercial acumen around sourcing appropriate consumables
You will be:
An accomplished chef
A self-manager, able to take responsibility for tasks and objectives
Able to demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, common sense and flexibility
Experienced in dealing with a diverse range of people
Hospitable and compassionate — with a friendly and welcoming manner
Able to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness
Innovative, enthusiastic and have a passion for great food.
Committed to best practice
A team player who is works collaboratively with the sisters, management, staff and volunteers
Interested in the work of the Soup Kitchen.
A contributor to the ongoing development of a service that supports people in need to live with dignity in the community.
