Hi, my name is Neil Williamson. I’ve just started teaching drumming lessons again in Papakura, after moving back to the area from up north. Many of you know me, as I’ve been a drum teacher here for nearly 20 years. Learning to play drums is much more than just learning a musical instrument. It
teaches students co-ordination, concentration, confidence and self discipline. They learn
how to set realistic goals for themselves and focus their attention and energy . Students will also learn to read music,
Drumming is also an effective tool for people with learning issues such as Dyslexia, ADHD, etc, as it teaches them how to focus on the task at hand . Playing drums is a wonderful way for
them to release energy in a positive manner as well as increasing joint flexibility.
Located at 24 East St, Papakura, I teach anyone over six years old. Lessons are $30 per half an hour.
We start with basic beats, then play fun songs that the student likes, then rudiments and how to read music.
I also teach guitar.
