North Shore United Football Club (NSU) established in 1887, is the oldest football club in New Zealand and is situated in Devonport Auckland. NSU numbers over 600 junior and youth players and their their families, a First Division and Reserve team, senior social teams, as well as our many social members and supporters.

NSU is now seeking applications for the below position commencing October 2018. The successful applicant must be available to work outside of school hours, mornings and afternoons / evenings, Saturdays and Sundays as required. You will be based primarily in Devonport , Auckland and the surrounding area.

Assistant Director of Football.

We are seeking a dedicated, ambitious and knowledgeable football coach for our junior and youth footballers. The role includes the following core responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY
The Assistant Director (AD) will report to the Director of Football (DOF). The principal responsibility oversees and coordinates our junior (5th grade) to youth (U19s) football programme. The role will work with age group coaches all of whom report to the AD.

They will create an environment in each section of the club they are responsible for that nurtures and encourages both participation and elite plays in both the club and schools community.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Development and implementation the following tasks, but not limited to;
? Delivery of the NSU First Kicks, Junior to Youth programme;
? Responsibility for the appointment, development and oversight of club coaches in those areas;
? Promoting the Football Philosophy of NSU;
? Running Holiday programmes and similar ‘out of season’ events;
? Coordination and oversight of our Social Summer Football programme;
Together with the DOF coordination and development of our youth Player Development Programme;
Take responsibilities as the Head of Football at a partner secondary school including first XI boys coach.
Take responsibilities as the Head of Football at a partner intermediate school, including boys and girls football coaching.
Provide coaching programmes to local schools as outlined in our partnership agreements.
Administrative work in relation to all of the above.

Personal Qualities, Qualifications and Experience;

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience coaching and mentoring of junior and youth football players.
? UEFA B Coaching license.
? Alternative coaching qualifications such as Premier Skills or similar is an advantage.
? Proven experience working with children from 5 to 12 years old and youth from 13 years up.
? Ideally qualifications in the education sector.
? Have proven experience in managing staff.
? We expect the successful applicant to have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with our key stakeholders including coaching staff, players, parents, and education providers in our area.
They will have strong personal drive and autonomy to achieve key outcomes.
A commitment to football and personal development,
Ability to work as a mentor for school aged students.
Coaching experience including badges / accreditations and past demonstration of commitment towards developing junior and youth footballers is critical.
Strong communication, time management and organisational skills.
Pass Police vetting requirements in accordance with the Vulnerable Children’s Act.
