Lawson Engineering is a family owned and operated engineering company based in Ikamatua on the West Coast. Lawson Engineering is a strong provider of engineering, hydraulics and mechanical solutions for the mining, forestry and agriculture sectors.
Our workshop is based in the heart of Ikamatua 50km north of Greymouth and 26km south of Reefton. If you enjoy hunting and fishing, you will love it here with the famous trout rivers only a 2-minute’s drive away and some of the best hunting in the country 10 minutes up the road.
Due to our increased workload, we are on the lookout for multiple superstar trades personnel to join our ever-growing team.

Fitter Welder and a Welder:
We require multiple skilled Fitter welders and Welders for workshop and field service work. Applicants need to have held a welding certificate within the last 2 years for flux-core. You will need to show knowledge of welding and fitting to a high standard in prior roles.

Line Borer Operators:
We require a Line borer operator to join our team for workshop and site work in various location throughout New Zealand. Applicants must have strong knowledge of machining practices and be able to operate modern manual lathes and mills. Welding skills would be an advantage for this role but not required.

Hydraulic Hose Sales and Service Technician:
Hydraulic Hose Sales and Service Technician is required to further expand our coverage in the area. Applicants must be able to work unsupervised, be able to communicate with clients and be self-motivated. Ideally, you will have prior experience in sales and knowledge of hydraulic hose fittings. However, for the right applicant training will be provided.

Field Service Mechanics:
Field service mechanics are required, key duties will include onsite diagnostics, field services, and in-house component rebuilding, to full machine strip down ground up rebuilds. Applicants must be able to diagnose and fault find on at least one of the following brands Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo and Hitachi machinery to a high level.

All applicants must be qualified and competent in every part of their job they are applying for!
Must have at least 3 years in the field of choice
Must be willing to work extended hours when required
Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol tests
Have a Minimum Class 1 Full Licence

Heavy earthmoving or heavy transport experience would be an advantage. Having a class 2 license would also be sort after.
