Kaikoura is home to a unique ocean environment with an astonishing variety of marine life including whales, dolphins, seals and albatross providing an unforgettable location to experience eco-tourism at its best. Within the Kaikoura District, you will find some of the most breath-taking scenery in the country with a stunning coastline, a dramatic peninsula and some of the South Island’s highest mountains close to the ocean.

Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Information Centre is part of the nationwide i-SITE Network. Our visitor information centre is an important first point of contact for our domestic and international visitors, along with assisting our locals. We provide unbiased travel advice, forward itinerary planning, booking of activities, accommodation and transport in Kaikoura and around New Zealand.

We are looking for an outgoing, friendly frontline travel consultant (salesperson) who will provide an outstanding service to promote Kaikoura and sell our visitor experiences.

To be considered for this position, you will have:
• A real passion for the tourism industry
• Knowledge of the Kaikoura region and New Zealand as a visitor destination
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Exemplary sales and customer service experience
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Good written and oral communication computer skills essential
• Accuracy with figures, efficient cash handling experience and computer skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy team environment
• Flexibility to work within a 7 day roster and ability to work weekends and public holidays
• Ability to speak multiple languages: fluent in English and also either Mandarin, German, Spanish or Japanese would be an advantage.

A National Certificate in Tourism or Travel Level 3 or 4 is desirable but not essential for the right applicant
Applicants should have New Zealand residency or hold a valid working holiday visa.

This is a fixed term position until the end of April 2019.
