Origin Fire is a consulting engineering firm with a focus on fire engineering, fire protection, passive fire protection design and construction monitoring services. One of our current strengths is building remediation projects where the initial defects are leaking buildings. We are professionals who say what’s needed to be said and are creative collaborators. As a result of forward planning and future proofing our business, we’re now looking for a General Manager to come in and take over leadership of our people and management of our operations.

The General Manager’s key duties will include managing the day to day running of our business, building systems and processes to enable us to increase the size and complexity of projects we can undertake, plus increase the company size by 10% each year. This role holds responsibility for management of our 15 Auckland based staff who have a mix of flexible office based and remote working arrangements. The person who is successful in joining us will have extensive support from our owners (a husband and wife team) to understand the business and grow into the role. We don’t want someone to come in and shake things up, rather we want someone to take over day to day ownership and responsibility for people management and business operations, then start to identify and suggest improvements for changes to our business.

To be considered suitable for this role, you will be a smart, business savvy professional with excellent communication skills and a strong, positive attitude. You will be a natural leader, able to coach and upskill your team, plus have a desire to grow your own capabilities. You may have prior experience as a GM or similar and are ready to take on a less pressured role in a small company OR you may have several years of people management and be ready to step up into a GM role, especially to get more involved in business operations management. Any background in consulting engineering or professional services could be useful, but is not essential.
