Thriving Southland is an initiative with the purpose of supporting farmers to drive change and strengthen the primary sector across Southland, using farmers well known ability to innovate and adapt.
The project was initiated by a group of like-minded farmers and rural professionals keen to see the engagement of Southland's primary sector and wider community in a positively focused strategy.
Thriving Southland is currently delivering the sustainable land use project, supported by Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI). More projects will evolve in the future that align with the vision to protect Southland's prosperity, heritage, environment and health through community collaboration.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to effectively manage and deliver the project within intended milestones, timelines and budget. In this role you need an excellent understanding of project management principles and processes and an ability to support the wider project team who are working closely with the farmer led Catchment Groups and other stakeholders.
You will ensure that the right people are allocated to the project, that opportunities and risks are identified, and you will monitor and report monthly on progress of all contracts and project plans to the appropriate funders.
Ideally you will bring an understanding of catchment issues and farming practices along with a strong knowledge of Southland's primary industries and rural communities.
Exceptional communication skills will play a critical part in the success of this project; you will need to work collaboratively, using your relationship management, facilitation and problem-solving skills. With an eye to the future you will also contribute to the development of other possible funding bids.
