This successful wildlife reserve has been open to the public for nearly 50 years and currently has a full time position available.
Your working week will include one day in the weekend and some public holidays. As we are 20 minutes drive from Upper Hutt, good reliable transport is a must.

The role involves:

Building maintenance and erecting new structures and buildings
Livestock and enclosure work as required
Using equipment such as tractor, leaf blower, lawn mower, chainsaw etc
Adherence to workplace protocols to ensure we maintain an efficient and safe workplace
Assisting with some husbandry work with the animals and birds Ensuring all our customers are wowed by their experience at the park
Driving our visitors on the tractor trailer rides,

Skills and experience:

Must have proven building skills
Good eye for detail and observation skills
Professional conduct and able to have a customer focus
An interest in wildlife and conservation
A stable work record ie minimum of 2 years with one employer
Good attitude towards your work colleagues and workplace
Understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace
Ability to follow workplace procedures and paper work as required

Livestock handling and husbandry skills would be an advantage as would tractor experience.
The position is primarily building work but you will also be helping with animal and bird husbandry and some gardening and park presentation duties.

You will regularly interact with our customers so you must have a personable manner and enjoy working with people. Your ability to communicate with a wide range of people will be critical to your success at Staglands.

This is a physical job. There is lifting involved and a good level of fitness is essential. You must be able to prove you can work outside in all weathers and dig deep when the going gets tough. You need NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and a full NZ driver’s license. Anyone looking for short term work need not apply.
