Turnberry Station is currently a 1,360ha sheep and beef property in the heart of Alfredton, twenty minutes east of Eketahuna. The farm is continually being developed and it consists of moderate to steep hill country complimented by high intensity flats, running 5,500 breeding ewes and 250 calving cows.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, passionate and reliable to join our team. The role includes a variety of stock work, fencing, general farm maintenance and tractor driving. The applicant needs to be able to work unassisted and as part of a team. The applicant should be capable of making decisions regarding animal health requirements as well as feed levels and quality. There would be potential to move up to a managerial position over time based on the ability level and attitude of the successful applicant.
The applicant will be required to have:
a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant farming experience
good animal husbandry
a competent team of working dogs
excellent work ethic; be able to take initiative and be flexible, be willing and keen to learn, be honest, trustworthy and have a positive attitude
good communication and time management skills
A good remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant including a house and other benefits. Turnberry Station is only a 10 minute drive to Alfredton School and Community Hall with the school bus to the farm gate. Alfredton is a wonderful, friendly and social community to be part of, 20min to Eketahuna, 25min to Pahiatua, 45 min north east of Masterton, 1 hour drive to Castlepoint, Akitio & Palmerston North.
