Tauwhareparae Farms Ltd (TFL) is searching for a Stock Manager for Tauwhare Station, one of three stations that make up TFL, and based 50kms inland of Tolaga Bay, East Coast.

Tauwhare has been in the top 10% for the district, for farm performance, for the past 3 years. It has a total area of 3000ha, of which 2000ha is effective, wintering 20,000 stock units of sheep and beef. The property currently runs a breeding/finishing system for the sheep and a breeding/store market system for the cattle.

We are looking for a someone with proven experience in managing large teams of staff and contractors at peak times, including docking, weaning and main shear. You will also be able to lead a team of 4 valued farm staff with professionalism and a hands-on approach while using their experience to optimise animal welfare, productivity and ultimately the profitability of the property.

The successful applicant will have:

Effective time management
Ability to demonstrate Attention to detail
A very capable team of working dogs
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Basic computer skills using email, word, google and excel
Feed budgeting skills
Pasture and grazing management
Experience with FarmIQ and/or other software tools
Competency using modern stock weighing systems and recording information
The ability to understand targets and what needs to be done to achieve them


In addition, this role will be given responsibility for coordinating other important aspects of the farming operation, not just stock related. These include fencing, water systems, basic maintenance, H&S reporting, checking monthly accounts, recording & submitting casual wages.
