We are seeking an ambitious, experienced manager to challenge this 243 hectare (228 eff.) established dairy farm located in West Otago, 16 km’s from Tapanui and 60 km’s to Gore.
Targeting 640 cows milked through a tidy 40 aside herringbone cowshed, with a new effluent system and storage pond. The budgeted production is 230,000 kgMS this season. Superior calf rearing facilities.
Three full time permanent staff are employed and casual staff are used as required, generally only for calf rearing.
The responsibilities within this role will focus around people management, pasture management and profit.
This position requires the following skills:
* Strong knowledge of pasture based dairy systems
* Recording and utilisation of farm information to make timely decisions
* Sound knowledge of dairy plant and operations and care of farm machinery
* Sound knowledge of animal husbandry and commit to animal health and wellbeing
* Strong People leadership skills with a strong focus on safety and wellbeing and can implement policies and procedures.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Excel, word, and other modern farming tools
* Good understanding and management of financial budgets
* Be able to adapt to new systems
You will have full responsibility for the property, supported by the Farm Consultants to create strategies and ensure that farm targets are achieved.
The remuneration package will be based around experience and qualifications and includes a tidy three bedroom house and vehicle. There are two other dwellings for staff on farm.
