Capital Communications Services LTD are hiring for multiple positions within our company. The Position for a Telecommunications Fibre-optic Network Technician requires dedication and commitment to perform at the highest level of quality and standards set by our parent company Vision-stream/Ventia and Chorus. It needs unwavering accountability and continuous reporting of every duty carried out to the Field Managers in charge. A very high level of customer service is an absolute necessity.

As a network Technician, this position demands hands on experience in achieving above standard results, maintaining team work and training staff in the areas of your expertise.
Outlined below are some of the duties you are expected to perform and also pass on to the team where possible, especially in the areas of fibre splicing, provisioning, networking, VOIP and data programming.

Duties required:

To be responsible in explaining scoping methodology to the customers according to the Chorus blueprint.
Installing and configuring ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and connecting with RGW (Residential Gateway/wireless modem)
Programming the ONT with MS DOS Command Prompt
Installing RJ45 switches and phone integration
Install and activate Vodafone IPTV decoders
Installing the FTP (fibre termination point)
Fibre splicing
Working on the network cabinet
Working on a network BUDI
Working in a Chorus and Spark exchange building with valid PTN qualifications and access cards
Installing and connecting to a new RAT/B8 (Rapid Access Terminal) for aerial fibre connections
Fibre optic cable blowing using air compressor and fibre blowing gun from FAT/Exchange
Using different network methodologies to manage and protect the network infrastructure so it runs smoothly
Ensure the networks perform at optimum levels and configure network resources accordingly by using the Tech-mate analyst system
Patch panel network cabling knowledge of modern houses and business site environments, ensuring the connections to servers are appropriate and assist in-house IT support for configurations
Attend mandatory trainings, health and safety tool-box meetings every month.
Working with correct PPE at all times, provided by Capital Communications Services LTD
Troubleshooting by communication with several service providers, including Chorus IVR helpdesk and Vision-Stream Tier 1
Locating faults using transmission measuring equipment (cable locator, tone tester probe, visual light source, Bud phone)
Completing i-auditor reports for Faulty Network and Wt4 jobs and having them submitted within 48hours to Field manager and required email addresses
Knowledge of remedial work for outside boundary such as fixed fibre network fault, blown fibre network faults and creating new laterals
Ability to use software platforms such as:

Pulse cloud-based platform (Vision-Stream dispatching software) to scope jobs, fill out required documents with clear annotations, fill in consent documents and quality checklists
Tech-mate analyst systems, to test the optical power meter levels of the ONT, connection status between RGW and ONT, status over time and levels of loss on upstream and downstream signals
Tech-ease RON system, to ensure all jobs where RON is applicable, be opened and closed accordingly such as outside boundary excavation on council land, opening FATS, Fibre blowing, Climbing poles etc.
I-Auditor software for creating reports, such as soft surface trenching, hard surface trenching, faulty pole reports and faulty network reports, all to be done with compliance.
Basic knowledge of MS Office programs such as Excel, Word
Ability to search as-builds and netmap plans on MangoMaps.
